flystitch

I have been a huge fan of Sharon Boggins for a long time.  I took several of her classes on joggles way back when.
I am going to try and follow along with this anniversary of her TAST!  I will post a link on the side.

one week

It is hard to find time to stitch and work full time.  I am trying to build a habit!  This is really sideways.  At this point I think the piece is vertical.

Selecting threads

So I quickly went through my stitch a chose a few threads which I will keep on n a bag to stitch.  All of this is kept in a tote so I can graphic it and work when ever I have a few minutes.

Preparing to stitch

I don't like stitching on a naked canvas.  I used diaper cloth and painted it with golden fluid acrylics.  I really didn't have a plan.  I just went to my shelf and grabbed a color and then grappled three more to compliment it.

Starting fresh

so... I wanted to always have something to stitch on.  This is similar to keeping a sketchbook.  It isn't to make anything.  I am not trying to make perfect stitches.  If anything, this is my place to be imperfect, to experiment, learn, and push the edge.  The most important part is NOT to be judgemental about what I am doing while I do it.  After I am finished, then it is important to look at the work and allow myself to reflect and DOCUMENT what worked, what I enjoyed, and what I could have done differently.

Finished Constellation

This started as a free form embroidery on wet felted as well as needle felted background.  I enjoyed experimenting with stitches.
